I created my first NFT on Easter. I hope it comes to something. When nothing needs to become something, value is placed solely in the recognition of others of your ownership, your authority, your power.

Everything is about power, always. Ownership is about power and authority. The danger comes when that power is at the expense of another’s power. That’s when the corruption begins, the sickness infects.

What is the power in NFT? You own nothing but a validation of purchase. A receipt that you can display proudly. A unique certification that you have the only one or one of many of that digital piece’s soul. The soul is generated in a blockchain, and that is what you buy. You own the power of recognition by others. That’s the value of an NFT. And the masses determine just how valuable that authority is.

A lot of people right now don’t believe in them because that value is still being determined. A lot of people call bullshit and laugh at artists like myself who choose to value NFTs. With the advent of TV, visual art has been fighting a losing battle for the attention of the masses. And in the last decade of smart phones, it has become critical that Art adapts and evolves. NFTs were a bugle sounding to artists everywhere to show the world just what Art can do. The over-saturation of the market makes brutal critiques necessary now more than ever. The shifts are happening so fast that the mediocre will fall away fast, shed like dandruff. You can feel the intensity and drive, everyone’s watching everyone else. As the value of an NFT rises, so will the demand for the Masters return.

 It’s very possible NFTs will come to nothing. But it’s more possible that this is just the beginning. And, in a few years, the process will look vastly different than now. It could all be nothing. But it makes more sense that this would be the evolution of capitalism.
